Discussion on Referral Partners program

We discussed the Referral Partners program and the participants seemed to agree that the one-on-one meetings were valuable in getting to know the others. We also agreed that having an "arranged" one-on-one is beneficial in helping make the decision of who to meet with since deciding who of the many members to meet with can be intimidating. However, some felt that there was undue pressure to come up with immediate leads & referrals during that meeting.

One method that was discussed was this:

Each month those who wanted to take part would, in effect, throw their business cards into a bowl and have a random one-on-one partner picked to meet with that month. It would be understood that although leads & referrals would be wonderful, they would not be expected. What would be expected is just getting to know that other person better. Each member would choose whether to participate in each month's "drawing" or not. That leaves the flexibility to skip months when they're extremely busy or already have plans in place for a one-on-one. There was some discussion about whether to put in place a system to make sure that members met with a different member each month. But some felt that repeated one-on-ones are valuable too.

We left it at that and proposed to take it up further at a future meeting.

This was a great meeting today. 
The interest for this topic for today was certainly at a high level.
 



As we attended the lunch meeting, it
reminded us that we have a great mix of business members in our group. 
Today Jean allowed us to interact in her educational speech by allowing
us interact in her presentation.


 



The subject was POSITINING STATEMENT.

us his positioning statement.
 



The group got the opportunity to state
their opinions creating a great discussion.  This made for an excellent

For all : Let this overview of out meeting on the 24th serve as the minutes

Joe Pulawski Of First Mortgage Corporation was the presenter and a great job he did. He was personable and disseminated complex information so that evenwe lay people could understand the different kinds of mortgages. The outstanding part of the presentation was1. How knowlegable he is 2. How he really takes care of his clients and has the Know-How to do just that. Very impressive.

That was the opinion of everybody….we are all smarter and wiser.

Outline of the results of the matching one on ones.

Philip and Ben met and Philip was not present at the Sept. 24th meeting Ben reported that he had a much better insight to what Philip did. He was present when Philip interacted with a client and as an observer gained insight.

Joe & Tom Had not set expectations for their meeting and thought they got to know each other better the tangible result is that they will play golf together. Tom arena is complex and can be better understood by going to his web site www.criterionservices.us.

Rachel and Matt. Though their arena’s are diverse they creatively come up with a way for them to do a training on PDA and smart phone to occur sometime in January. Rachel will handle the forming and the sponsoring of the training allowing her to give something of value to her clients and other potential clients and Matt will show his expertise. And be exposed to people he would not have access to here-to-fore. Resulting in possibilities of referrals.

Larry & Lois Met once and Lois found a huge block in her approach to business of no dollar and cents accountability on paper. Larry was exposed to a customers relationship marketing tool and had the experience of sending a couple of cards. He is still receiving cards. Result is that Lois is taking “real” steps to confront that block.

Jean & Shalla had met before and there was discussed that even though we all know what others do what occurs individually is the focus energy is awakened on what the other does therefore it is higher in the conscious mind. Out of the Interactions.

Next Meeting is on October 8th and special “hot” speaker Gary Davis will be presenting his topic Networking in the South. Don’t miss it.

Business Alliance Social on Wednesday at the Cardinal Club and there is a meeting of the Durham Camber of Commerce on Thursday evening. Please go to the Web Site of the Durham Chamber for details.

The September 10th meeting began at 12 noon. There were 16 in attendance.

Our webmaster, Daniel Trimpey, gave tips on editing and adding information to the website.

To add your name and business to the website, you need to login, go to "Edit Profile". Also, go to "Business Directory" and add your information. The group was reminded that only core members have the ability to add to the calendar.

There will be an education spot on October 8th. As of today, the speaker was unknown. Suggestions were requested.

Introductions were made, and a presentation by Charlie Neal of LSG Large & Small Graphics followed. Charlie explained they do all types of printing, and also sell equipment.

Comments and suggestions followed.

We ended the session with personal comments and networking events.

Our next meeting will be held at the Capital City Club on Monday, September 24th.

Hey guys. Many of you have posted your business in the online directory and I just realized that we had a glitch that kept the system from saving your business information, so only your business name and description when through successfully. I apologize for the oversight. You should be able to click the "Modify this listing" link to edit your profile and put the info back in. And the bug is fixed so that wont happen on any new business directory posts.

The session was opened by Jean Wiley at approximately 12 noon.

There were brief introductions.

Kevin Cecil, owner of Cecil Financial, Inc., presented a brief synopsis of the many services he offers to increase wealth and prepare for retirement. He also passed out handouts to the group. Questions and answers followed, with presentation comments and suggestions.

Afterwards, new referral partners were chosen from business cards in a basket. These partners will meet between now and September 24th, using their own criteria to set the agenda, and, hopefully learn more about each other and the strenghths and services each offers. There will be a "debriefing" on Sept. 24th.



We adjourned the meeting after describing our businesses, and sharing upcoming networking events.

Jean Wiley noted that our next meeting will be Sept. 10th, due to Labor Day. Joe Pulawski of Keystone Mortgage will give a 20 minute business presentation on 9/10/2007.

The Meeting was called to order by Jean Wiley at 12 noon.

After brief introductions, we discussed teaming of business partners. The results were as follows:
